Voice of Coding
Free coding tutorials and resources, made by students for students and teachers.

Since 2018 Voice of Calling has been making coding tutorial videos. At first the plan was to carry them with us to places like Egypt, Syrian refugee centers and Turkana, Kenya, where we wanted to run coding and robotics camps in summer 2020. Back home, the videos would let students keep studying by themselves.
Then COVID-19 closed borders and schools. Teachers and students across the United States were suddenly learning online with little preparation. So we built voiceofcoding.com and put every tutorial we had on YouTube, free. Because the videos followed the AP Computer Science curriculum, we emailed hundreds of U.S. high schools to let teachers know.
Our students made the videos. We think that makes them friendly and relatable: they are high schoolers explaining things to other students.
Since then we have kept adding tutorials. Our YouTube channel regularly gets more than 500 visitors a day, and we have heard good feedback from students and the general public alike. voiceofcoding.com is also the backbone of our quarterly free Coding Class.
Where it is going
Voice of Coding is growing from a collection of videos into the Open Learning Hub: step-by-step lesson plans, code examples, exercises and quizzes that any teacher or learner can follow.
